Setting Yourself Up for Raw Food Success

What do you need to set yourself up for success on a raw food diet? You dream about the promised benefits of raw foods: Weight loss, high energy, glowing skin, clear mind. Now you can take positive steps to achieve that dream. Set yourself up for success with a raw food diet with the following tips.


•    Learn as much as you can about raw foods.  The many articles and resources on RawPeople can get you started. There are other websites, books, articles, videos and more to encourage, motivate, inspire and educate you. Learn as much as you can and keep learning.

•    Clean out your kitchen and pantry. You can do this all at once or gradually, depending on your own personal preferences and lifestyle. But do go through the pantry and kitchen cupboards. Get rid of the worst offenders first: Diet soft drinks, artificial sweeteners, packages and processed pseudo foods. Weed out unhealthy choices filled with white flour and white sugar.

•    Stock up on raw food choices. Be sure to keep your kitchen well supplied with healthy alternatives. Stock up on raw fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and supplies. No matter where you live, you should have access to fresh fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts.  Don't forget items such as spices, cold pressed olive oil, and sprouting seeds…and if they aren't available locally, they're always available through mail order, such as the RawPeople Co-Op!

•    Invest in the right kitchen equipment. While you can start your raw food journey with a simple cutting board and a sharp knife, having a good blender, juicer and dehydrator in the kitchen greatly enhances your ability to create a variety of meals, snacks and desserts.

•    Build your recipe file.  There are thousands and thousands of creative raw food recipes available in books, E books, websites and more. Search and save the ones that appeal to you. How about trying one new recipe each week? Soon you will have a repertoire of raw food recipes committed to memory to make each meal a celebration!

•    Create community.  Meet raw foodists worldwide online, or join a local potluck, meet up or group who share your interest. It's always easier to make changes when you are surrounded by like minded friends!

•    Surround yourself with beauty and joy.  No matter what new changes you want to bring into your life, season them with beauty and joy. It makes change more pleasurable and fun. Put your raw fruit in a gorgeous ceramic bowl on the kitchen table to celebrate its beauty. Joyfully prepare meals, knowing you are feeding your body the food it needs to maintain health and wellness. Embrace the love you feel by eating a harmonious diet that spares the lives of animals and eats low on the food chain (and perhaps embraces local produce, which reduces the carbon emissions needed to transport the food from the grower to the table.) Whatever you do…do it with love.
