It’s Spring Cleaning Time! Whole Body Detoxification Checklist

Do you ever get the urge to do spring cleaning? As I waiting for the tea kettle to boil yesterday, I leaned against the counter and looked up towards the ceiling to spy a cobweb floating lazily in the corner of my kitchen ceiling. The garbage can is also starting to acquire an unidentifiable odor no matter how many times I take out the trash. It’s definitely time for spring cleaning!

Just like you take down and wash the drapes, scrub the kitchen floor, or dust the cobwebs from the ceiling of your home to spring clean your dwelling, your body – the dwelling place for your spirit and intellect – needs spring cleaning too!

Many people focus on their external cleanliness and beauty and neglect the more important internal cleaning through detoxification. That’s akin to power washing your home, repainting the porch, but allowing festering garbage to pile up in the living room. The outside might be bright and shiny, but inside’s a health disaster waiting to happen.

Make March your month to spring clean your body’s inner workings. From your lymphatic system to your colon, let’s get the gunk out for a fresh start to spring!

Whole Body Detoxification Checklist

People who enjoy raw, living foods tend to already eat an alkaline diet that encourages natural daily detoxification. If you’re just starting on a raw, living foods journey, or you work and living in a major urban area where pollution levels are high, you may wish to consider taking your detoxification to a new level and making an appointment for a colonic and cleansing regimen under the guidance of a holistic health professional. For those with serious medical conditions or pregnant and/or nursing women, consult your health care provider before embarking on any cleansing routine.

Spring Detoxification Checklist

•    Lemon juice and water: Start your day with room temperature water and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Ionized alkaline water is even better than filtered water. This is an excellent and simple way to encourage detoxification through the liver.

•    Green smoothie cleanse: Try a five day green smoothie cleanse. Energize your cells with fresh, vital greens!

•    Fasting: Fasting for a day, week or longer is an excellent detoxification procedure. If fasting for more than a day, consult with a professional and use care and caution.

•    Juice feasting: Try a juice feast and drink fresh, living juices.

•    Sauna:  Enjoy a sauna to open the pores and eliminate toxins through perspiration. FIR and similar saunas are best.

•    Dry skin brushing: Use a bath towel, loofa sponge or dry skin brush and encourage improved lymphatic drainage and detoxification through dry skin brushing.

•    Gentle exercise: Rebounding, yoga and other exercises encourage good circulation, perspiration, and lymphatic drainage.

•    Meditate or Spend Time in Nature: Detoxification involves spiritual and intellectual detoxification too. Unplug the television. Let the warm sunshine melt away your cares (and infuse you with a dose of vitamin D too). Meditate, repeat a mantra, or use mindfulness to shed the stresses and worries of daily life.

For longer, more sustained detoxification, make an appointment with a holistic health expert. From your head to your toes, detoxify inside and out. You are worth it!
